According to local reports, clashes broke out in Geskore, Awaran district, Balochistan, following an armed attack on a Pakistani military camp and a checkpoint.
Witnesses said that heavily armed individuals carried out a coordinated attack using heavy weaponry. In response, Pakistani forces, together with locally based pro-government armed groups—often referred to by residents as “death squads”—attempted to surround the attackers.
The exchange of fire reportedly resulted in casualties among the Pakistani military and their allied groups, though the exact numbers have not been independently verified. Losses on the attackers’ side have also not been confirmed. The attackers are reported to have escaped the area. No official statement has been released from the authorities in this regard.
The Awaran region has previously seen activity from Baloch “pro-independence” armed organisations, which have carried out similar attacks in the past. However, no group has so far claimed responsibility for the latest incident.
