Six security personnel, including a Pakistan Army major, have reportedly been killed in a bomb attack in the Mastung district of Balochistan.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the Talkh Kavi area of Mastung, where a military unit was targeted by an improvised explosive device. Among the deceased is said to be Major Zaid of the Pakistan Army.
This marks the second major attack on security forces in Mastung today. Earlier in the morning, an attack targeting foot patrol personnel in the Ab-e-Gul area reportedly resulted in multiple casualties and injuries.
Local sources indicate that a large-scale military operation was underway in the region, with a significant presence of security forces deployed across Mastung.
Over the past week, several similar incidents have been reported in Balochistan. Three officers of major rank have reportedly been killed in separate attacks during this period.
On 16 July, Major Rab Nawaz was killed in an IED blast carried out by the Balochistan Liberation Front in the Jhao area of Awaran district. On 19 July, Major Anwar Kakar died in a bombing near Jabal Noor in Quetta, an attack claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for today’s attack in Mastung. Authorities have not released an official statement regarding the incident.
