An unidentified armed attack in the Gramkan area of Panjgur district, Balochistan, has left one man dead and another injured. According to local sources, the deceased is linked to a group commonly referred to as a “death squad.”
The incident occurred around 11 PM last night. Both victims were brothers. Rehmatullah, son of Hameed, died on the spot, while his younger brother Saadullah sustained serious injuries.
Witnesses stated that the attackers also took weapons from the scene before fleeing.
In Balochistan, the term “death squad” is widely used to describe informal armed groups that are alleged to operate with the support of Pakistani military and intelligence agencies. Baloch nationalist circles have frequently accused these groups of involvement in enforced disappearances, targeted killings, and acts of violence against political workers and activists.
According to sources, Rehmatullah was believed to be affiliated with such a group. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, although in the past, Baloch nationalist armed groups have claimed similar incidents.
