A worsening ecological crisis is unfolding in the Zamuran region of Kech district, Balochistan, where local residents report finding numerous deer dead or in a near-death state in recent weeks. Community members say the situation is a result of prolonged drought, spreading disease, and sustained government inaction.

According to residents, an informal hunting ban had been observed locally over the past five years, leading to a significant increase in the local deer population. However, over the last month, dozens of deer have reportedly died or been spotted severely weak due to malnutrition and illness, sparking growing alarm among locals.

Experts and locals alike believe that the persistent drought and scarcity of natural food sources are posing a serious threat to wildlife in Zamuran. They warn that without immediate intervention, the region’s already fragile ecosystem may suffer irreversible damage, and vulnerable species like deer could vanish entirely.

Residents have called on the Balochistan Wildlife Department, the provincial government, and other concerned authorities to take urgent action to safeguard the region’s wildlife and restore balance to its delicate environment.

As of now, there has been no official response from the Balochistan Wildlife Department regarding the matter.
