An explosion in the Rakhni area of Barkhan district, Balochistan, on Monday afternoon claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy and left at least 10 others injured, local officials and rescue sources confirmed.
The deceased child was identified as Muhammad Luqman s/o Muhammad Hanif, a resident of Sakhi Sarwar. According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred while normal commercial activity was underway in the local market.
Rescue teams and police reached the site soon after the blast, along with personnel from the Levies and the Bomb Disposal Squad. Authorities said the exact nature of the explosion has not yet been determined, and investigations are ongoing.
All injured individuals were provided first aid on-site before being shifted to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
The injured have been identified as Atif Shoro s/o Abdul Majeed Shoro, Shehzad s/o Bahadur Khan, Ali Dad, Safiullah s/o Kamal, Noman Khan, Ismail s/o Hakeem Khan, Lalu s/o Darya Khan, Noor Hassan s/o Haroon, and Karam Hussain s/o Madad Hussain.
