Quetta Deputy Commissioner Saad Bin Asad and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce voiced serious concern over the ongoing blockade of highways in Balochistan, calling it devastating for Balochistan’s already fragile economy.

Speaking at a joint press conference, Chamber President Muhammad Ayub said commercial activity has ground to a halt due to the blockade of national highways, leading to inflation and a shortage of essential items, including medicines. He noted that over 800 gas bowsers are stranded on the Taftan highway, severely affecting energy supplies.

He further revealed that vehicles carrying fertilizer were set ablaze in Panjgur, impacting the agricultural sector. “The uncertainty in Balochistan is discouraging investors,” he said.

Deputy Commissioner Saad Bin Asad highlighted the disruption caused by the sit-in at Lakpass, saying the suspension of movement is hurting trade and daily life. “Public issues should take precedence over personal interests,” he stated.

He also condemned damage caused during the protests, including harm to cameras at the University of Balochistan and the Safe City Project.
