The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for killing an officer of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in Pasni, Gwadar district, as well as carrying out several other attacks across Balochistan.

Jeeyand Baloch, spokesperson for the group, said in a statement that BLA fighters conducted an intelligence-based operation on Sunday evening in Pasni targeting Muhammad Nawaz, son of Muhammad Azam, a resident of Hakeem Wala near Chorangi Joharabad, Khushab district, Punjab.

According to the statement, Muhammad Nawaz was an ISI officer stationed in Gwadar and had been under surveillance by the BLA’s intelligence wing, “ZIRAB.” He was reportedly targeted with a remote-controlled explosion near Maskan Chowk Cemetery in Pasni city at around 7pm while travelling in a vehicle with members of a “state-backed death squad.”

The BLA said that a “death squad” operative, Salman, son of Munir Ahmed, resident of Babbar Shoor, Pasni, was also killed in the blast, while another operative, Shah Nazar, was injured. Their vehicle was “completely destroyed” in the explosion, according to the statement.

The group alleged that the ISI officer was being facilitated in Pasni by a local “death squad” leader identified as Balach.

In a separate operation, Jeeyand Baloch said the group’s fighters carried out a sniper attack in the Jamki Tank area of Zamuran, Kech district, killing one Pakistani soldier.

In another operation, BLA fighters reportedly established a blockade on the Quetta-Karachi highway at Khazinai, in the Manguchar area of Kalat district. The group said its fighters conducted snap checks and targeted vehicles associated with the Saindak project, a major Chinese-backed mining project in Balochistan.

Additionally, the group claimed it carried out a hand grenade attack on the police lines in the Dhadar area of Bolan district during the night between Sunday and Monday.

In its statement, the BLA said it accepted responsibility for all four operations and vowed to intensify its attacks against “the occupying Pakistani military and their collaborators.”
