At least eight Pakistani nationals from Punjab province were killed on Saturday morning in an armed attack in the Haizabad area of Mehristan, located in western (Iran-administered) Balochistan.
According to reports, the victims were shot dead by unidentified gunmen who stormed a vehicle repair workshop where the men were working and residing. The attackers reportedly tied the victims’ hands before shooting them at close range.
The deceased have been partially identified as Dilshad, his son Naeem, Jafar, Danish, and Nasir — all hailing from Punjab province of Pakistan. TBP has not yet received the names of the remaining deceased.
The incident occurred in Haizanabad Payin village, approximately five kilometres from the city of Mehristan. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no group has claimed responsibility so far.
This attack marks the second such incident involving Pakistani nationals in western Balochistan within the past year. On January 27, 2024, nine Pakistani nationals were similarly shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Saravan.
