Two individuals have reportedly been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces in the Kech district of Balochistan.
The victims have been identified as Sakim, son of Feroz, a student of Political Science at the University of Turbat, and his cousin, Inayatullah, son of Sawali. According to their family, the two were traveling from Turbat to Jamak when they were detained by security personnel and taken to an undisclosed location.
The incident comes at a time when people in Balochistan are rising, despite government crackdown, against enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan. Across Balochistan, protests against enforced disappearances continue despite resistance from security forces. In Kech and Hub Chowki, demonstrations have been met with crackdowns, yet families and rights activists persist. Organizations such as the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) have been staging sit-ins for years, calling for justice and accountability.
VBMP Vice Chairman Mama Qadeer Baloch has frequently highlighted the grueling nature of this struggle, stating, “The fight for human rights in Balochistan is a battle against systemic oppression and requires immense resilience.” Recently, the group marked over 5,687 days of continuous protests, reflecting the gravity of the crisis.
Meanwhile, security forces often claim such operations are conducted as part of counterinsurgency measures, alleging links between the detained individuals and banned organizations. However, these claims are never substantiated in a court of law, fueling further outrage among the Baloch population and rights groups.
