Pakistani forces have reportedly forcibly disappeared three men in separate incidents in Balochistan’s Nushki and Gwadar districts, as large-scale protests against enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings continue to disrupt major highways in the region.

In Nushki, local sources said that Shakeel, son of Abdul Latif, from Qaziabad, and Riaz, son of Niaz Muhammad, were detained from Qadirabad. Both men were reportedly taken by Pakistani forces in a joint operation with intelligence personnel dressed in civilian clothing. Their whereabouts remain unknown.

Meanwhile, in the coastal city of Gwadar, another individual—identified as Hammal Baloch from Dasht—was reportedly detained on Thursday night. Family members have expressed concern about his safety and have called for his immediate release.

Protests Continue to Escalate

These disappearances occur amid a growing wave of protests in Balochistan against enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.  Families of the victims have been staging demonstrations, accusing authorities of systematic abuses while demanding justice and accountability.

Families of Zareef and Naveed continue their protest in harsh cold weather.

In Kech district, the families of Zareef Umar and Naveed Hameed have been staging sit-ins to protest their alleged extrajudicial killings by Pakistani forces.

They blocked the M8 Highway at the D-Baloch point, escalating their protest efforts. Previously, the families had been protesting at Fida Shaheed Chowk in Turbat for over a week before shifting to the highway to increase pressure on authorities.

Separately, the CPEC highway at Hoshap Zero Point has been blocked for over a week by the families of Zaman Jan and Abul Hassan, demanding their release.

Both men were reportedly forcibly disappeared in December, but the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) later claimed to have arrested them in Qila Abdullah, accusing them of possessing hand grenades and having ties to the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF). Their families have rejected these allegations as “fabricated,” accusing authorities of using false charges to justify unlawful detentions.

No official statements have been released by Pakistani authorities regarding the most recent disappearances in Nushki and Gwadar or the demands of the protesters in Kech.
