Protests in Balochistan’s Kech district have intensified, with demonstrators blocking key roads and demanding justice for recent killings and alleged enforced disappearances.
In Turbat, the families of Zareef Umar and Naveed Hameed, along with members of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, have been protesting for five consecutive days at Shaheed Fida Chowk. The protests are against the district administration and security forces, following the killing of Zareef Umar in Tump and Naveed Hameed in Buleda. Demonstrators have blocked the area, halting traffic in all directions.
Simultaneously, at Hoshap Zero Point, the CPEC highway remains closed for the fourth day. Women and children have joined the sit-in, demanding the release of Zaman Jan and Abdul Hassan, who were reportedly forcibly disappeared by the Pakistani security forces. Protesters have placed roadblocks and announced they will not clear the highway until their demands are met.
According to reports, Zaman Jan and Abdul Hassan were allegedly disappeared on December 16, 2024, from Turbat. However, their arrest was officially disclosed on, January 1, by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) from Qila Abdullah. Authorities have accused them of links to a banned organization, which the family has firmly denied.
