The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Pakistani military convoy in Kolwah, Balochistan, which the group says resulted in the deaths of two security personnel and the injury of another.

In a statement issued on Friday, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said that BLF fighters ambushed a convoy of two military vehicles in the Rodkan area of Kolwah at around 3:00 PM on January 28.

According to the statement, the convoy was escorting a medical team as part of what the Pakistani state calls a “Hearts and Minds Operation,” an initiative aimed at gaining local support. The BLF, however, described this effort as a counterinsurgency tactic under Pakistan’s “colonial policies.”

“The state’s attempts to win the hearts and minds of the Baloch people have already failed, and even the army’s leadership is aware of this failure,” the spokesperson said. He added that, despite this, Pakistan continues to reinforce its “unsuccessful” counterinsurgency strategies, but “the defenders of Balochistan are ready to thwart every such conspiracy.”

The BLF reiterated its commitment to continuing armed operations against Pakistani forces, vowing to target them until what it describes as Balochistan’s independence is achieved.

No official response from Pakistani authorities was immediately available regarding the attack.
