Five construction company employees detained by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) a week ago in Balochistan’s Noshki district have been released.
Levies officials confirmed that the workers were freed in the Zarin Jungle area of Noshki.
The employees, who were working on a dam construction project, were abducted on the night of November 28 by armed assailants.
In a statement issued on November 29, the BLA said its fighters had carried out three coordinated operations in Noshki’s Zarin Jungle area. These included snap checking on the main highway, seizing weapons from Levies personnel, and detaining the construction company employees.
The group’s spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, said: “BLA fighters captured a post of the occupying Pakistani Levies Force, confiscating weapons and military equipment. The personnel, being Baloch, were later released safely.”
In another operation, BLA fighters reportedly conducted snap checks on vehicles along the highway for over an hour. A third unit detained five construction company employees and set their machinery on fire.
The BLA spokesperson also said that the interrogation of the detained personnel was ongoing at the time.
