A university student in Balochistan’s Gwadar has reportedly been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces.
According to reports, Zahid Ghulam Mustafa, a data science student at Gwadar University, was taken from his home late on Thursday night. Witnesses said personnel in five vehicles, some in uniform and others in plainclothes, raided the property and detained him.
Family members said the forces breached the boundaries of their home. They alleged that those who resisted were beaten with rifle butts, and gunshots were fired.
Local journalist Ain Qadir, Zahid Mustafa’s uncle, condemned the incident. He said enforced disappearances in Gwadar and surrounding areas have increased in recent weeks. He described the actions as a violation of citizens’ rights.
The human rights wing of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), Paank, also expressed concern. It described Zahid Mustafa’s disappearance as a “violation of basic human rights.”
In a statement posted on X, Paank called for his immediate release. It urged an end to what it called “unlawful actions” targeting students and journalists in Balochistan.
