On Wednesday, the internet services were temporarily shut down in the Kech district of Balochistan ahead of a protest rally against ‘enforced disappearances.’
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) had called for a protest rally in Turbat, district Kech, against ‘enforced disappearances.’ Many suspect that the mobile internet services were shut down to foil the protest.
The protest was supposed to be held at Shaheed Fida Chowk at 4:00 pm. The 4G services of all mobile networks have been suspended in Turbat to stop the demonstrations from getting live coverage and timely updates of the program.
The internet services were also shut down in Khuzdar on Tuesday as a result of the demonstrations against ‘enforced disappearances.’ In Hub Chowki, the police tried to stop protestors from marching ahead.
BYC is conducting demonstrations in multiple areas to protest the increasing cases of ‘enforced disappearances’, which have spiked in the past few weeks and have alarmed Baloch activists, nationalists, students, and the general public alike.
