Iranian forces have allegedly killed at least 260 Afghan migrants after opening fire near the Kalgan border crossing on Sunday evening, according to reports.

Haalvsh, a news outlet monitoring the situation in Iran-administered Western Balochistan, cited survivors who described the scene as “horrific,” claiming that Iranian military forces opened fire on a group of migrants attempting to cross into Iran.

According to Haalvsh, two survivors said that approximately 300 migrants were trying to cross the border when they came under fire, including from rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs). One survivor reportedly said, “Two hundred and sixty Afghan citizens were killed by the Islamic Republic’s military forces on the Saravan border.”

The outlet also reported that dozens of others were wounded. “On Sunday evening, dozens of Afghan citizens were targeted by direct fire and RPGs from Iranian forces lying in ambush at the Kalgan-Saravan border,” Haalvsh stated. “As a result, dozens were killed, and many others were injured.”

Images provided by survivors allegedly show that many of the migrants were shot multiple times.

Iranian officials have yet to respond to the allegations.
