A coal miner has died in an accident in the Harnai district of Balochistan.
According to reports, Manan, son of Haji Aql Khan, was killed after a heavy stone fell on him while he was working in a coal mine operated by contractor Wazir Alizai in Tehsil Shahrag, PMDC Area No. 151. The deceased miner was originally from Afghanistan.
Local workers, without assistance from authorities, recovered the body and transferred it to the Rural Health Center in Shahrag. The administration later handed the body over to the miner’s family.
It should be noted that dozens of coal mining projects are currently operating in Balochistan, where thousands of workers from the region and other cities have been victims of mining accidents over time. Labor unions and organizations advocating for workers’ rights blame these accidents on poor facilities and substandard safety measures provided to the workers.
