Protesters have boycotted classes at the college and the OPD at Teaching Hospital Turbat, staging a sit-in.
With the support of the Young Doctors Association and the Paramedical Association, the protest camp against the suspension of salaries for faculty members of Makran Medical College Turbat continued for the third day in front of the MS office.
During the protest, the Young Doctors and Paramedical Association boycotted classes at Makran Medical College Turbat and shut down the OPD at Teaching Hospital Turbat. Various political parties and social figures visited the protest site, expressing their support and solidarity with the protesting doctors.
Protesters stated that the faculty members of all three medical colleges in Balochistan, including Makran Medical College, have been deprived of their salaries for the past four months. Due to the negligence of the government and the health department, teachers and doctors are forced to protest.
The doctors said that in the face of severe inflation, the suspension of salaries for the past four months has compelled them to protest. They warned that if the administration and authorities do not meet their demands, they will escalate their protest, for which the government and the health department will be held fully responsible.
The protesters further mentioned that the faculty members of the three medical colleges in Balochistan—Makran Medical College, Loralai Medical College, and Jhalawan Medical College—have been without salaries for four months. Additionally, there is a lack of facilities in these medical colleges that need to be addressed.
