At least twelve people, including a police officer, were injured in an explosion in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, on Wednesday.
According to reports, the explosion occurred near a police vehicle on the eastern bypass of Quetta, injuring 12 individuals, including a police officer. Rescue officials found a wrecked motorcycle at the scene, and the police suspect that explosive material was planted on the motorcycle.
Following the explosion, a bomb disposal squad was called to the site, and the nature of the blast was being investigated. The injured were shifted to Civil Sandeman Hospital, according to the police.
In a separate incident, armed men attacked a construction company in the Kalat district of Balochistan on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday. The gunmen reportedly set fire to machinery and equipment at the site.
The company was reportedly working on a highway in the Khazina area of Kalat. Gunfire was also heard when the gunmen were present at the site, but no casualties have been reported so far.
In another development on Tuesday, armed men attacked a vehicle supplying water to a military post in Tigran, a remote area between the Tump and Zamuran tehsils of Kech district.
No group has claimed responsibility for these attacks at the time of filing this report. However, Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups have been responsible for similar attacks in the past.
