Police officials were targeted in a hand grenade attack in the Sibi area of Balochistan on Thursday, according to local sources.
The attack took place while police personnel were on duty in a vehicle near the Public Health Engineering (PHE) office. The assailants fled the scene following the explosion.
Meanwhile, a ‘pro-independence’ Baloch armed group, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG), claimed responsibility for the attack on Thursday evening. In a statement released to the media, BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch said their fighters targeted the police force as part of their ongoing campaign against Pakistani security forces.
“Our fighters attacked the Pakistani police with a hand grenade near the PHE office, causing both human and material losses,” the spokesperson claimed. The BRG stated that their attacks would continue until the “complete independence of Balochistan.”
