In Balochistan’s district Khuzdar, a young man named Anees-Ur-Rehma has reportedly been forcibly disappeared by unknown armed men. Anees, a resident of Khuzdar city, was at a hotel when the armed men raided the premises. They reportedly subjected him to severe beatings before abducting him and taking him to an undisclosed location.
Anees’s brother, Fakhar Baloch, revealed that Anees is a computer science graduate from Bahauddin Zakariya University in Multan. He said Anees was picked up from the ‘Café PUBG’ hotel in the evening and remains missing. Fakhar and his family are deeply concerned about his safety, fearing for his life. He demanded that the Khuzdar administration ensure Anees’s safe return and register an FIR against the culprits.
Baloch human rights groups, student organizations, leaders, and fellow students have taken to social media, urging the safe return of Anees-Ur-Rehamn. Baloch students live in constant fear and anxiety, uncertain when abduction might strike.
In a separate development, residents of Buleda, Kech, staged a massive demonstration against enforced disappearances. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), along with BSO-Pajjar and the general public, called for the safe release of all Baloch missing persons. Women and children participated, holding placards and banners displaying pictures of their loved ones.
The protestors marched through Buleda’s streets, chanting slogans, and gathered in front of DC Kech’s office. Family members of the missing individuals lamented the ‘extrajudicial’ abduction of Baloch youth, arguing that it violates fundamental human rights. Despite years of road protests across Balochistan, they decried, their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. The judiciary, parliament, and local administration remain silent spectators to their anguish, the protestors said.
The protestors said they were oblivious to the conditions and whereabouts of their missing loved ones. They said that despite all the campaigning, enforced disappearances in Balochistan persist, showing no signs of decline; if anything, they are increasing. Every day, news emerges of another disappearance from a different area, they said.
The protestors insisted that if their loved ones have committed crimes, they should face court proceedings. If not, they must be released. They vowed to continue their protest in front of DC Kech’s office until they received a satisfactory answer.
