Two individuals were shot killed in a firing incident in Mashkay tehsil of Balochistan’s Awaran district.
According to reports, unknown armed men opened fire and killed two men named Dolat Khan M. Hassani and Mureed Khan M. Hassani in Nok-Jo Pacharh, a picnic point in Mashkay.
Local sources said that both of the deceased individuals belonged to a government-backed armed group locally known as “Death Squads.” However, the reason behind the incident remains unknown.
As per reports, ‘death squads’ are active armed groups in various parts of Balochistan. According to political and human rights activists, these groups are involved in various crimes, including kidnappings for ransom, enforced disappearances, extortion, and target assassinations of political activists. These groups are allegedly backed by Pakistan army and secret agencies to counter the ongoing independence movent in Balochistan.
