Thirteen people reportedly went missing from Quetta, Kech, Gwadar, Awaran and Dera Bugti districts of Balochistan.
According to reports, on Tuesday at 2:00 pm, armed men in plain clothes allegedly forcibly detained six people from A1 City’s Phase 1 in the Arif Plaza area of Quetta. However, three of them have been released while the other three individuals’ whereabouts remain unknown. They have been identified as Farooq, son of Sakhi Dad; Shehak, son of Kahoor Khan; and Wazeer, son of Nazeer, who are relatives of each other. The detainees are residents of Kech’s Turbat city who were currently living in Quetta for their studies.
On the other hand, Pakistani forces are reportedly conducting military operations in different areas of the Kech district, including Jam Muhammad Bazar, Mulai Nigwar, Zarain Bug, Shollig, Front Bazar, and other areas. During the military operation, forces reportedly detained six people in the Dasht area of the district. The detainees have been identified as Niamat, son of Dad Muhammad; Ameer, son of Naseer Ahmed; Aman, son of Ali Majeed; Nadeem, son of Abdullah; and Mohsin, son of Ubaid.
The Baloch Voice for Justice confirmed the news in a press release that last night six students were forcibly arrested and then shifted to an unknown location. Although three of the students were released, but Farooq, Shehak, and Wazeer remain missing. The spokesperson expressed concern over the alarming increase in enforced disappearances and demanded for the immediate of detainees.
The statement added that the families of previously disappeared Imtiaz, Waseem, and Saleh Muhammad, have been protesting in front of the DC office in Turbat since last night, demanding the return of their loved ones, but the state institutions and local administration are not paying attention.
In another incident on Tuesday night, Pakistani forces reportedly raided the Deenar Colony area of Sui Dera Bugti and allegedly forcibly detained a 13-year-old teenager, Sattar, son of Ali Muhammad Bugti; Ijaz, son of Saeen Baksh Bugti; and Ehsan, son of Sheeraz Jhakrani. After the arrest, the forces allegedly shifted them to an unknown location, and their whereabouts remain unknown since.
Moreover, two brothers named Faisal Sawali and Rafeeq Sawali were recently detained and remain missing for several days. As to family sources, a false case has been registered against Faisal Sawali, which is very disturbing. The statement highlighted that Faisal’s life is in danger, citing a similar fake case registered against Balach Baloch who, despite being produced in court and remanded, was killed in a fake encounter by CTD. Faisal’s family is concerned that the state institutions will harm him. Human rights organizations should take notice to save Faisal’s life and play a role in providing him justice, the family appealed.
In another similar incident, Pakistani forces allegedly detained a woman named Naaz Bibi, spouse of Zaman from the Mashky area of district Awaran.
Local sources said that Naaz Bibi was forcibly disappeared by the forces when she was carrying out rations to her husband who was camping in the nearby mountains to graze his livestock animals.
The Baloch Voice for Justice highlighted that on June 2nd, a demonstration rally will be held against the “Human Rights Violations and Enforced Disappearances.” Therefore, the organization appeals to people from all walks of life to fulfil their human and moral rights by participating in this solidarity rally to demand justice and the safe return of the forcibly disappeared people.
