Pakistani forces have allegedly forcibly disappeared two Baloch youths from Awaran and Khuzdar districts of Balochistan.
According to reports, a convoy of Pakistani forces consisting of five vehicles raided the shop of a young man named Younis and allegedly forcibly disappeared him infront of several eyewitnesses around 9:00 AM on Monday in Jafarabad area of Khuzdar district.
According to family sources of Younis, this is the third time that Younis has been subjected to enforced disappearance. “Earlier, he was forcibly disappeared twice and subjected to mental and physical torture,” he said.
Speaking to TBP correspondent friends close to Younis confirmed that Younis was first forcibly disappeared in 2014 and was released after being disappearances for a month, Then in 2017, he was abducted and recovered after being missing for 15 days.
Younis Baloch’s family has expressed their regret and said that a week ago, his nephew Jawad Yusuf lost his life in the Khuzdar bomb blast. The Baloch political and human rights organizations accused state-backed militia (locally known as Death Squad) for being behind the bombing.
According to latest developments, Younis was released and he returned to the safety of his home on Wednesday.
In another similar development, Pakistani forces forcibly disappeared a youth from Awaran on Saturday.
According to the family sources, Zareef, son of Gamshad, a resident of Malar area of Awaran, was summoned to the army camp in Geshkor on April 13, 2023 and subsequently shifted him to an undisclosed location.
It’s pertinent to mention that enforced disappearances are not uncommon in Balochistan, as every day a young man faces a similar fate without trial or is killed in an alleged fake encounter. The series of enforced disappearances and the public outcry in Balochistan underscore a deepening crisis of human rights in the region.
