Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Qasim Munir, conducted a tour of the Awaran district in Balochistan, assessing the security situation.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the public relations wing of the Pakistani armed forces, the Army Chief was briefed on the security situation and other matters during his visit to Balochistan.
Upon his arrival, the Commander of the Corps in Balochistan welcomed the Army Chief.
According to the statement, while talking to local leaders and farmers in Awaran, General Munir highlighted the importance of agriculture and the Green Pakistan Initiative of the armed forces. He emphasized the need for providing easy agricultural loans, seeds, fertilizers, solar tubes, and all agricultural facilities, including guidance from agricultural experts, to farmers. This, he said, would enable them to actively participate in Pakistan’s development.
ISPR mentioned that later, General Qasim Munir inaugurated the Cadet College Awaran and engaged in discussions with faculty members and students.
The visit of Pakistan’s Army Chief comes at a time when, a month ago, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a Baloch pro-independence armed group, took control of the Mach city in Balochistan after a severe attack. Awaran is considered one of the most affected regions by the insurgency in Balochistan, where various types of attacks against the Pakistan Army have occurred at different times by Baloch freedom fighters, resulting in casualties for the forces.
