The Punjab Police have detained activists of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) for protesting against the “illegal arrest and detention” of PTM chairman Manzoor Pashteen.
According to reports, several protesters were arrested by the Punjab Police for participating in a demonstration called by the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) against the arrest and detention of Pashtun leader Manzoor Pashteen in Lahore, the capital of Pakistan’s Punjab province.
PTM Lahore reported that the police have transferred several workers, including PTM Lahore Chairman Rahim Wazir, to the police station after apprehending them.
In a statement, PTM claimed that the Punjab Police initially halted the peaceful protesters advocating for Manzoor Pashteen and then forcibly arrested the activists, including the PTM leader, to undermine the protest.
PTM Lahore has demanded the immediate release of the activists, “otherwise PTM will show a severe reaction,” according to the PTM statement.
