Tensions escalate as one person sustains injuries from gunfire and three others are reported to have been forcibly taken away by Iranian law-enforcement forces in Western(Iranian-administrated) Balochistan.
According to sources, an incident unfolded in Chahbahar where Iranian forces opened gunfire, leaving one individual injured. The wounded victim was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical attention. This incident occurred just two days ago and involved Faridun Raiisi, who was wounded in the attack, while his associates Imran Hameed Raiisi and Raza Buledai were taken into custody by the forces.
All three individuals, hailing from Nikshahr, were en route to Chahbahar when the incident occurred. Despite complying with the forces’ directive to halt their vehicle, the Iranian forces opened fire at them.
In a separate but similar incident, a seventeen-year-old named Ehsan Yousufzai lost his life as forces reportedly opened fire on him. The incident occurred two days ago and saw Yousufzai’s body being transferred to Zahidan before being laid to rest in Dilgaan, following necessary procedures.
Furthermore, Abdul Samad Reki, a prominent member of the civil society and a resident of Mirjaveh, was reportedly forcibly abducted from his hometown by Iranian law-enforcement agencies. Reki, known for his involvement in civil and religious activities, is the latest addition to a series of enforced disappearances that have become all too familiar in Western Balochistan.
The incidents described above reflect a distressing trend in the region, where such cases of violence and disappearances have become normalized. The latest disappearance of Reki marks the fourth such occurrence in just a matter of days, highlighting the need for greater attention to the security of the citizens of Western Balochistan.
