Seven people including a chairman of a Union Council (UC) were killed in a roadside explosion in the Balagatar area of Balochistan’s district Kech on Monday.

According to police, a remote-controlled landmine targeted a vehicle carrying Balgatar’s UC Chairman Ishtiaq Yaqoob and six others. All seven occupants of the vehicle died on the spot and the vehicle was completely damaged.

The deceased have been identified as Ishaq s/o Yaqoob, Ibrahim s/o Badil, Nizam Deedar s/o Wajid, Fida Hussain s/o Momin, Sarfaraz s/o Bandu, Safar Khan s/o Haider and Qasim.

As per sources, the victims were returning from a wedding ceremony in a nearby village and were targeted near the Chakar Bazaar in Balgatar. However, the motive behind the attack has not been ascertained yet.
