At least three policemen were seriously injured, and a police vehicle was damaged in an explosion in Karachi on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, three policemen were seriously injured and their vehicle was severely damaged when an unidentified individual hurled a hand grenade bomb at the police van.
The explosion took place during a routine patrolling operation by a police mobile unit of the Sachal Police Station. The attackers managed to escape from the scene taking advantage of the darkness and the chaotic situation created by the explosion.
Among the injured were Assistant Sub-Inspector HM Khamisu, driver Yasin, and Officer Abdul Samad, the sources said. The injured officers were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
A “pro-independence” armed group from Sindh, Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA), issued a statement on Thursday claiming responsibility for the attack.
