The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for targeted attacks on Pakistani military and secretive agency personnel in Balochistan’s Mastung and Khuzdar districts.
According to reports, the “pro-independence” armed group carried out two separate attacks within a span of 24 hours. As per BLA’s statement, its fighters executed a planned operation targeting vehicles transporting Pakistani secretive agents. Using improvised explosive devices (IEDs), they initiated a powerful blast that destroyed one of the vehicles, resulting in multiple casualties among the Pakistani secretive agents. The incident unfolded on Monday evening, leaving the area cordoned off by Pakistani forces, which BLA terms as “an attempt to conceal their losses.”
In a subsequent incident on Tuesday, BLA militants struck in Mastung, targeting a vehicle belonging to Pakistani forces. Employing a hand grenade, the attackers targeted the vehicle at Major Chowk. The group claims to inflict casualties upon military personnel.
The Pakistani government has yet to release an official statement regarding the attacks, but these incidents are likely to prompt heightened security measures in the affected areas and beyond.
Jeeyand Baloch, the spokesperson for BLA, asserted the group’s determination to persistently target Pakistani “occupying” forces until the attainment of Balochistan’s liberation. The BLA’s actions underline their commitment to their “independence movement”, which has been a source of the ongoing conflict in the region.
The increase in attacks has once again highlighted the deep-seated tensions and unrest in Balochistan, as Baloch armed groups continue to challenge the Pakistani government’s control over the resource-rich region. The situation remains fluid as security forces respond to these attacks and the region braces for potential further clashes.
