Two unidentified gunmen opened fire inside a gurdwara in Canada on Sunday night, killing 46-year-old Hardeep Singh Najar, who was associated with the Khalistan movement.
According to the Indian media Hindustan Times, the incident took place on Sunday night in the Surrey of Canada where a large number of Punjabi Sikhs are residing.
According to Indian media, Hardeep Singh was shot when he was inside the gurdwara. Singh was said to be the head of the Khalistan Tiger Force.
He was wanted by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) in at least four cases, and was accused of radicalization and conspiracy to kill a Hindu pandit, besides running the separatist Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) movement and promoting a “terror agenda”.
The NIA had put head money of 1 million Indian rupees.
