Two Pakistan soldiers, including a serving military intelligence (MI) officer, were gunned down in two separate target-killing incidents in Balochistan’s Turbat city within twenty-four hours — The Balochistan Liberation Front claimed responsibility.
According to reports, unidentified motorcycle-borne gunmen shot dead a man in front of a mechanic shop in the Dannuk area. Soon after the incident, Pakistani law-enforcement forces reached the scene and cordoned off the area, and shifted the dead body to the Teaching Hospital Turbat.
The police identified the deceased as Sanaullah Khattak, a Frontier Corps (FC) personnel.
Meanwhile, a pro-independence Baloch armed group, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) took responsibility for the killing and said that the deceased was an official of Pakistani secret agency, Military Intelligence, or MI.
The BLF spokesman Major Gwahram Baloch said in a media statement on Wednesday that the MI official was targeted by their fighters when he was on his way from the D-Baloch military camp to Turbat city.
He added that the MI official was posted in Turbat six years back. For the past year, his duty was in the MI branch of the D-Baloch camp, while before that, he was serving in the MI camp in the FC Headquarters in Turbat.
BLF spokesperson said their intelligence wing had been keeping an eye on the aforementioned person for a long time. “Apart from Turbat city, he was very active, especially in Gokdan and Dannuk. He had built a network of local informants.”
In another attack, BLF claimed responsibility for targeting Pakistani forces in Sangani-Sar area of Turbat on Tuesday.
Gwahram Baloch said that BLF fighters opened fire at the Pakistan army post at Sangani Sar, “which resulted in killing an enemy personnel on the spot and wounding another.”
