Sindh Police has claimed to have thwarted an attempt to attack Chinese citizens in the Malir area of Karachi on Wednesday.
According to police, during the exchange of fire, an attacker was killed, who had planned to attack the Chinese nationals in the Malir area, while a police constable was also wounded in the cross fire.
The Police officials claim to have recovered a semi-automatic rifle, SMG, a suicide vest and other equipment from the possession of the deceased attacker.
Meanwhile, the identification of the deceased was not revealed by the authorities. However, the injured constable has been identified as Akram, who was shifted to the hospital where he is undergoing medical treatment.
According to SSP Malir, Hassan Sardar Niazi, “On Wednesday at 9 am, two attackers tried to enter the Chinese company, Hong Kong Dawood Jetty, through the canal.” They were trying to enter the ship repair area when the policemen on duty tried to stop them and in firing one of the attackers was killed and a police constable was injured in retaliatory firing,” SSP said.
The other attacker managed to escape but police are searching for him in the area, the senior police officer said.
