The governor of Afghanistan’s Balkh province, Mohammad Dawood Muzamil, was killed in a blast that took place inside his office on Thursday, security officials confirmed.
According to reports, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid took to the Twitter and expressed sorrow over the killing of the provincial governor.
A statement from the department of security of Balkh said that an individual wearing a suicide vest blew himself up near the second floor near the office of the provincial governor.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
