A woman and a man were killed in a firing incident in Dera Murad Jamali of the Nasirabad district, on Wednesday.
According to reports, unknown armed men opened fire at a man and a woman in the Mal Puri area of the city.
The deceased man has been identified as Ahmed s/o Bakhtiyar, while the name of the woman remains unknown.
The police took the dead bodies into custody and shifted them to the hospital. An investigation is underway regarding the incident, while the initial investigation hints that the motive behind it was honor killing, Police told media.
It is pertinent to mention that such incidents are a common occurrence in the Nasirabad district, bordering Sindh province. Dozens of men and women have been the victims of so-called honor killings in the past.
The Aurat Foundation — a non-governmental organisation — working for the protection of women rights, disclosed information last year in its annual report that around 49 people, were killed by their relatives in the name of honor in Balochistan in 2021 only.
