A blast targeted the Jaffar Express near Balochistan’s Machh area on Friday.
According to sources, ten passengers were injured in the attack. Two seriously injured in the blast were moved to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Sibi for medical treatment.
According to initial reports, at least ten people were injured as a result of the blast. the blast damaged an engine and two bogies of the passenger train. Levies and frontier corps personnel reached the spot and cordoned off the area.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Quddus Bizenjo condemned the attack on the train and he vowed that the “miscreants” involved in the attack would be brought to justice.
The train service between Balochistan and other parts of Pakistan was suspended in the aftermath of the attack. The blast also partially damaged the track.
The original Jaffar Express ran between Quetta and Rawalpindi. In April 2017, the train was extended to Peshawar.
It is to be mentioned that the Jaffar Express has been targeted many times in the past by Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups. Today’s attack has not been claimed by any group yet.
