The case of suicide bomb attack on Chinese nationals at KU has been registered with the Anti-Terrorism Police Station, on Wednesday against Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) head, Bashir Zeb Baloch and his comrades.
According to reports, the plaintiff in First Information Report (FIR) No. 30/2022 is Senior Housing Officer (SHO) of Police, Basharat Hussain of Town Police Station.
FIR has been registered under sections 302, 324, 427, 190, 34 of the Explosives Act 3/4 of 1908 and 7 of the ATA of 1997. According to the FIR, the incident took place on April 26, 2022 at around 2 pm in the Confucius Institute near IBA Campus of Karachi University, close by Maskan Chowrangi.
According to the plaintiff, he received a report of a bomb blast at 2:08 p.m. When he arrived the scene at 2:30 pm , there was a fire in the Toyota Hiace. A nearby motorcycle also caught fire. The fire brigade was called and the fire was extinguished and the burnt bodies of three persons were recovered from the seats inside the van, he said.
According to the plaintiff, the bomb disposal unit was called and the site was inspected and some samples were obtained for analysis.
The BLA chief Bashir Zeb Baloch, commander Rehman Gul and spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch have been nominated in the case. The case will be investigated by Sanaullah, the inspector in charge of CTD’s al-Qaeda ISIS unit in Karachi.
It is to be noted that the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), is an armed group fighting independence of Balochistan from Pakistan. The group has targeted Pakistani army, law enforcement forces, infrastructures and Chinese engineers and workers. Baloch nationalists say they are not the party with China and Pakistan’s projects in Balochistan and these projects are being carried out without the consent of Baloch people.
