A case against enforced disappearances and harassment of Baloch students was heard in Islamabad High Court (IHC), on Friday. The court ordered the President of Pakistan to meet with Baloch students.
According to reports, the IHC presided by Chief Justice Athar Minallah, heard a petition on the harassment of Baloch students and ordered the President of Pakistan and the Home Secretary to meet with the students. The Chief Justice ordered the Attorney General to set up a meeting between Baloch students and President of Pakistan.
It must be noted that a case was reportedly filed in the Islamabad High Court over Hafeez Baloch’s forcible disappearance, which also includes harassment and profiling of Baloch students in educational institutions.
According to reports, the court has also previously ordered Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed to meet with Baloch students and hear their concerns. However, when the Baloch students met with the Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed, they expressed their disappointment, claiming that the Interior Minister had informed them that he would not be holding his post till next week.
The High Court according to sources, has ordered the Secretary to the President to submit a report to the court on the next hearing. The court further ordered the Home Secretary to guarantee the Baloch students’ safety and to remove any fear of harassment or abduction upon their return to their province.
