Turbat Civil Society’s long march from Turbat to Quetta, arrived Soorab city of Balochistan on Sunday.
The Turbat Civil Society convener Gulzar Dost has named the long march after Mama Qadeer, who himself carried out a historical and longest march in the region, with the Voice For Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) from Quetta to Islamabad in 2013 for the recovery of Baloch missing persons.
On the 16th day, the march arrived in Soorab’s central city, where Gulzar Dost and his friends were greeted by a large crowd and people from all walks of life welcomed them with flowers.
The mother of missing activist Rashid Hussain also joined the march in Soorab and expressed her support. Rashid Hussain is a rights activist, who was forcibly disappeared from the UAE in December 2018. Hussain remains missing to date.
Civil Society Turbat will hold a rally at Soorab’s main square on Monday. Where the long march’s leader Gulzar Dost will address the participants and then the marchers will resume their journey towards Quetta.
The leader of Haq Do Tehreek Turbat, Yaqoob Joski and Zubair Askani are also accompanying Gulzar Dost in the long march. Gulzar Dost began the barefooted march from Turbat to Quetta on February 27th, following the decision of the Turbat Civil Society. While, at the request of renowned Baloch female activists, Amma Naseema and Saeeda BiBi, they reversed the barefooted March decision and resumed the march in slippers.
According to reports, the marchers demands include the recovery of missing persons, end of enforced disappearances, seizure of drug trafficking in Balochistan and the end of illegal land occupation in Balochistan, under the Land Acquisition Act 1984.
