Mobile phone services have been suspended across the capital city of Quetta, in connection with 9th Muharram processions and gatherings in the city.

The main procession of 9th Muharram started at 1 pm, on Wednesday from Imambargah Nasir Al-Azza.

Mobile phone services of all companies have been suspended in Quetta from 9 am. The services will remain closed till 8pm. 

Officials claimed that strict security arrangements have been made throughout the city for the procession.

The government has decided to suspend the mobile service on 9th and 10th Muharram ul Haram. Procession routes would also be sealed in Quetta, both the days.

In a press conference on Tuesday, the Commissioner Quetta division said “Over 5,600 police, Levies and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel to guard Aushora procession”. He said aerial surveillance of the Aushora procession would also be conducted in Quetta.
