The Afghan Taliban targeted an army base in Khashrod District of Nimroz province, where six Afghan army personnel were captured alive, including three wounded.
The Taliban reportedly attacked the Army camp from different directions, killing 20 army personnel and arresting six others.
As per the reports and pictures shared in media by Taliban, shows that Taliban seized an armoured vehicle and an artillery cannon in the army camp after the attack.
Khashrod District Chief, Jalil Watan Dost confirmed that 20 personnel had been killed in the attack.
It should be noted that the Afghan Taliban’s attacks in Afghanistan have increased after the deal with the U.S and Taliban and at the time when inter-Afghan talks have begun in Qatar.
On the other hand, the Afghan Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the Taliban have carried out attacks in various provinces of Takhar, Uruzgan, Baghlan, Helmand, Ghazni, Laghman, Paktia, Logar, Maidan Wardak, Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Paktika and Badakhshan and killed innocent people. However, a Taliban spokesman denied the government’s claims, saying they had responded to government forces in their defense.
