Donald Trump has approved the deployment of more troops following attacks on Saudi oil facilities.
According to details, The US is deploying military forces to the Saudi Arabia and UAE after the recent drone attacks on major oil sites in Saudi Arabia that the administration of President Donald Trump has blamed on Iran.
U.S. Secretary of Defense said at a news conference on Friday, “The president has approved the deployment of U.S. forces which will be defensive in nature and primarily focused on air and missile defense.”
On Wednesday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that while Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the Saudi oil-site attack, the “fingerprints” of Tehran’s ayatollah were evident in the drone strikes, nbc news reported.
Trump tweeted last Sunday night that U.S. forces were “locked and loaded” to launch retaliatory strikes, though he signaled a preference for a diplomatic solution to the Iranian dispute. Iran Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said a U.S. or Saudi strike would result in “all-out war” in the region, reported Fox Business.
The US has not provided any hard evidence that Iran was responsible for the attacks, while insisting the investigation continues, but Esper on Friday said the drones and cruise missiles used in the attack were produced by Iran,TheGuardian report read.
Whereas, Iran has denied its involvement in the attacks and warned the US that any attack will spark an “all-out war” with immediate retaliation from Tehran.
