16 security forces personnel were killed in an IED blast in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, on Wednesday.
The blast took place at Lendhri pool around 6km from Kurkhed.
Earlier in the day, Maoists torched at least 25 vehicles of a road construction company in Gadchiroli district, police officials said.
The targeted vehicles were engaged in construction works of a national highway near Dadapur village.
The Maoist insurgents, have been fighting against the state for decades, claiming they are left out of a long economic boom in the country.
