The investigation was carried out only days after Baloch Liberation Army attacked 5-star Pearl Continental hotel in Gwadar, where China has invested more than $60 billions as part of its Belt & Road Initiative.

According to details, a renowned Baloch journalist has revealed that Baloch students in China have been investigated about Baloch Liberation Army.

Kiyya Baloch, who has contributed for various news agencies including UK Based BBC World, Guardian and Al-Jazeera English, said that Baloch students who are based in China for further studies were investigated soon after Gwadar attack.

According to Mr Baloch, he has been in contact with various Baloch students who were questioned by Chinese authorities about BLA’s presence in Balochistan, its activities and local sentiments.

“A student said Chinese investigators were working to determine the local ire, BLA’s strength and whether the group receives any overseas funding,” Kiyya Baloch tweeted, “they carried more investigation by providing questioners to students asking them about possible solution and areas BLA operates from.”

Later the investigators claimed they were Chinese businessmen interested in investment in Balochistan but their investment plan is at risk due to poor security conditions on ground. They told students they needed to check with them about the condition on ground.

Earlier, on 11th May members of Baloch Liberation Army’s Majeed Brigade stormed a five-star hotel in Gwadar and battled Pakistani commandos for 26 hours.

The deadly attack has intensified security concerns around Beijing’s major development drive in Pakistan, including a strategic deep-sea port.

The security situation in general in Balochistan has hamstrung China’s operation of the Gwadar deep-sea port by the Arabian Sea.

The project is a “central pillar” of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a US$62 billion network of roads, railways and pipelines linking Gwadar to northwest China’s Xinjiang region.
