India on Wednesday unveiled the world’s tallest statue ‘Statue of Unity’ during a ceremony in Gujrat State.

The statue of independence hero Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel having a height of 182 meters was inaugurated by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a ceremony on Wednesday.

The statue has been built with a total cost of around 29.9 billion Indian Rupees with 1,700 metric tons of bronze, which has been used for the outer cladding of the structure.

Over 70,000 tons of cement, 18,500 tons of reinforcement steel, and 6,000 tons of structural steel have also been used in the statue.

The statue and its surrounding properties have been built over an area of 20 thousand square meters.

According to reports, at least two thousand workers including foreigners have worked to complete the statue with the support of the local farmers.

The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi says the statue will help in attracting more tourists to Gujarat State.

The local officials in Gujarat are expecting that upto 2.5 million tourists would visit Gujarat with the inauguration of the statue of unity.
