It is very much difficult to bring forth the words to describe an mystifying personality, especially the words which tend to describe the matter of facts regarding the emotional attachment towards a person.
Most of the people surrounding us believe that the origin of words is still a mystery that can be resolved only by love but they forgot to explain that the love is an endless mystery with in itself. However, the words couldn’t trigger the emotions specially related to a person who have sacrificed himself for the great cause.
My words are not as much powerful, which could easily explain the sacrifices, love and emotions of the legends for their motherland but hopefully these will be able to explain character of a brave son of soil.
The Baloch land has been providing heroes who have been sacrificing their lives for the sake of motherland’s protection against the invaders whether the hero is Hammal Jeeyand against the Portuguese or Mehrab khan against British. One of these heroes, which will always be remembered with golden words in history, is Sulaiman aka Shehyak.
Sulaiman was born in Mehi area of tehsil Mashkay district Awaran. Mashkay, is a beautiful valley, which is well known for being the native area of Baloch freedom fighter, Dr Allah Nizar Baloch and BNM leader, Shaheed Dr Mannan baloch.
Sulaiman was a soft spoken, optimistic and a dedicated brave Baloch. True to the meaning of his name, which means peace, Sulaiman was struggling for the peace and prosperity of the Baloch nation. Sulaiman Had been noticing the state injustices towards the Baloch Nation and finally decided to join the armed struggle at a time when the youth of Mashkay were indulged in drug addiction, a nefarious state policy to keep them away from the harsh truth of slavery.
But Sulaiman was aware of the state policies towards Baloch nation. He was among the bravest members of Balochistan Liberation Front (the leading organisation formed by Dr Allah Nizar), who fought well and didn’t even refrain from shedding his blood for motherland. Because of his bravery and dedication, Sulaiman was selected as a high ranking commanding leader of the organization. The state considered him a biggest hurdle in front of its dirty designs. State was afraid of Sulaiman’s bravery and tried many times to kill him but failed to do so.
Unfortunately in 2015, he was killed by Pakistani Army while he was attending his Father’s Funeral ceremony. The news of his martyrdom disseminated like a fire throughout the Baluchistan.
After his martyrdom, a video clip made rounds on social media where Sulaiman was seen delivering his last message to the Baloch nation. He, despite being seriously injured, was still having a courageous smile on his face. The smile was the indication of his dignity and bravery.
Whenever I see the hoopoe bird, mainly called murge sulaiman in local language, I remember martyr Sulaiman’s bravery that Sulaiman was delivering in Baloch Army exactly like the hoopoe birds did in Hazrat sulaiman’s army. Sulaiman’s bravery and last courageous message will be remembered by generations to come. The Baloch youth will praise him like a legend forever.
