Students at the Postgraduate College Kalat carried out a protest against the shortage of lecturers, lack of books, internet, and other basic facilities. They are also demanding the transfer of the current principal of the institution.
The students at the protest said that the principal’s tenure is legally three years, but the incumbent principal has been in office for seven years. They said that the principal is responsible for the college’s ongoing issues and are calling for his immediate transfer.
The students highlighted a significant shortage of lecturers, particularly for the BS program, where around 35 lecturers are needed. They emphasized the need for more lecturers from nearby areas to ensure regular classes.
The students said that despite taking various legal steps and trying to communicate their concerns to the Secretary of Education, Education Minister, and district administration, their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
During their protest, the students chanted slogans against the college administration, demanding the appointment of new lecturers and the transfer of the principal. They warned that they would block the RCD Highway in Kalat to all traffic if their demands are not met.
The students have presented the following demands to the administration:
- Immediate transfer of the current principal.
- Appointment of new lecturers.
- Provision of books, electricity, and internet at the college.
