Two young lawyers are among the five latest victims of ‘enforced disappearances’ who were taken away by the Pakistani forces from Quetta and district Kech.

In Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, two lawyers have reportedly been forcibly disappeared. The missing lawyers have been identified as Advocate Fida Ahmed Dashti and Advocate Salahuddin Mengal.

According to sources, Advocate Fida Ahmed Dashti was allegedly taken from his home in A-One City, Quetta, by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and other unidentified masked armed men on Thursday night. Similarly, Advocate Salahuddin, son of Muhammad Ayub Mengal from the Naag area of Washuk, was reportedly abducted near Goli Mar Chowk on Brewery Road, Quetta, around midnight. Eyewitnesses claimed that personnel from the forces and intelligence agencies, traveling in three Vigo vehicles, were involved in Salahuddin’s abduction.

These incidents have sparked concern among social and political circles. Journalist Kiyya Baloch commented on the situation, highlighting the irony of individuals dedicated to upholding the law being allegedly abducted by those who claim to enforce it.

In a similar incident, three individuals have reportedly been detained and disappeared by Pakistani forces in Kech district, Balochistan. The missing persons have been identified as Akram, son of Naseer Ahmed; Abdul Malik, son of Rashid Ali; and Salahuddin, son of Sher Muhammad.

Akram, Abdul Malik, and Salahuddin were reportedly ‘abducted’ by the Pakistani forces from Balochistan’s district Kech.

Local sources reported that these individuals were allegedly taken into custody during a raid by Pakistani forces in the Chab area of Tehsil Buleda, Kech district, on September 6, 2024. Since then, their whereabouts have remained unknown.
