In Balochistan’s Turbat, families of the forcibly disappeared are continuing their sit-in protest at Shaheed Fida Chowk for the third consecutive day of Eid-ul-Adha.
The protest, which began on the first day of Eid, was called by families of the forcibly disappeared from the Kech district. They are demanding the return of their loved ones, whom they allege were forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces. Despite sweltering temperatures reaching 46 degrees Celsius in Turbat, a large number of women and children are participating in the sit-in.
Two weeks ago, these families suspended an earlier protest after the Deputy Commissioner of Kech assured them their relatives would be released within three days. However, with no progress made, the families resumed their protest on Eid.
It is noteworthy that in Balochistan, the families of forcibly disappeared persons regularly hold protests, especially during Eid, to call for the recovery of their loved ones.
