At least one person was reportedly detained by a state-backed “death squad”, while three missing persons were released in the Awaran district of Balochistan.
According to reports, on Wednesday, unidentified armed men abducted an individual identified as Mohammad Azeem s/o Mohammad Fazal resident of the Ziyarat Dan area of Awaran.
Sources argue that the man was abducted by the government-backed militia locally known as a “death squad”.
It should be mentioned that Pakistani security forces have allegedly created several armed groups across Balochistan, commonly known as “death squads”. Baloch nationalists and political organizations claim that these groups are involved in enforced disappearances, killings and dumps, ransom kidnappings, burglaries, drug trafficking, and other social ills.
Meanwhile, three missing persons have safely returned to their homes. They were identified as Wahid s/o Karim Bakhsh, Imdad s/o Ibrahim, and Ilyas s/o Ibrahim.
It should be mentioned that Wahid Baloch and Imam Dad were forcibly disappeared along with another youth named Dilbod on the 17th of July. Both youths have returned home while Dilbod’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Ilyas was reportedly detained by Pakistani forces in September last year from the Gujjar area of Mashkey.
